Crown International rail signal CESS Mounted Counter balanced Signal Support Post has gained the Network Rail Certificate of Acceptance (effective 22 November 2004)
The new design in CESS mounted signal support Post offers increased safety in maintenance through the use of an integral counter-balanced mechanism for rapid lowering of the signal head to working height. Ladders and climbing are avoided and the post incorporates a number of ‘duplicated’ safety features to safeguard personnel and equipment when carrying out maintenance activities.
The Crown CESS Signal Support Post is positioned to attain equal distance between the centre-line of the signal head and track and the centre-line of the post and track. This, together with uncluttered, clean straight lines, helps to optimise visibility of the signal.
Crown International Limited exhibited, with great success, their Railway Cess Pole and Railway Gantry Pole systems at AusRail, which recently took place in Sydney, Australia.
Full approval for both poles has been granted by Network Rail in the United Kingdom and over 200 Gantry Poles have been installed on the West Coast Line in the UK.
The Crown stand was managed by Crown Chief Designer, John Sadler and Crown Managing Director, Ian Woodbury. In support were Crown’s Australian Agents: DCD Systems Pty Ltd, represented by Dieter Monch (Managing Director) and Dean Mills (Sales and Marketing Director).
Ian Woodbury comments: “AusRail was a great success for Crown – the Health and Safety Issues associated with the Crown Counter Balanced Poles which obviate the need for ladders associated with maintenance work, together with the superior sighting given to the train driver, proved to be of great interest to the Australian Rail Industry.
As a result of the exhibition three Australian states have commenced trials of the Crown Pole – in fact the exhibition pole was shipped straight to the Victoria State Authority when the show closed.”
